Yongkai Weng

Yongkai Weng, female, holds a Ph.D. and worked at the U.S. FDA's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research for eleven years (1995–2006) as a senior scientist and reviewer. She is currently a Visiting Professor at the School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology, Tianjin University; a Senior Research Fellow at the China Center for Pharmaceutical Economics at Peking University; a Specially Appointed Expert for Health Education and Training Programs at the China Population and Development Research Center; and a Senior Advisor at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation China Office. As a scientist, she focuses on the forefront trends in pharmaceutical research and development. As an organizer and manager of FDA project reviews, she has participated in various drug review committees, coordinated between FDA review teams and pharmaceutical companies, overseen pre- and post-market drug evaluation and monitoring processes while providing scientific and legal justifications, and contributed to the establishment of relevant policies and regulations. Additionally, as the founder and president of the 'American Love Foundation,' Dr. Weng has been involved in policy advocacy, supporting and funding multiple initiatives related to China's pharmaceutical, healthcare, and public health education.
